My 10 week old pup has been perfectly house trained from about the second day we had her, now 4 weeks ago, apart from one accident during the second week (due to over excitement) she has been fine. I've been monitoring her stools to make sure she is not getting diarhorea (spelling??) and so far with a mixture of raw meat(chicken),veg, raw eggs, and occasionally some food mixer (not with the same meal but seperately i.e meat in the morning, mixer in the evening) everything has been sweet, however, I bought some jibblets from the meat market the other day and was giving her that for about three days with one chicken meal in between and today out of nowhere after she'd been out for exercise, toilet etc and I was preparing her food she followed me to the living room to answer the phone then disapeared, when i went back into the kitchen moments later she was just spreading a pool of diarrhorea all over my kitchen floor, I was so shocked that I didn't get to correct her with anything other than a verbal NO and then outside. Is it the jibblets??? Too much liver, heart etc, too much iron in the diet.
Too much liver can cause diarrhea, it's very rich. I only feed it once or twice a week and in tiny amounts (a few ounces maximum), even to my big dogs.
Yup - sounds like the liver. I only give an adult husky 1 to 2 oz max. Very good stuff but you only need a little as it is very concentrated.
Hearts and gizzards shouldn't give any trouble as they are just muscle.
As this is a young pup, likely they are more sensitive to the changes in diet. I don't have problems giving larger amounts of liver, however, I usually mix it with other meat and then only feed every couple of days.
Other things can cause dirrereah (although this could be diet related). Recent vaccinations? That can also upset the stomach of a young pup.
