I got into an argument with a vegan PETA person who says it wrong for me to want to buy a puppy to do SAR work. They also chastized me for wanting to use the wool from the three sheep and one llama that I rescued from an abandoned sheep farm. It's wrong for humans to benefits from animals, even if the animals benefit too, apparently.
My question is... are they not aware of symbiotic relationships? I don't think they're really trying to minimize animal suffering so much as minimize humans benefitting, because they're more in favour of letting deer die from starvation and rot in the woods than a human killing one quickly and eating it.

Ugh.
Good points.
While news about dogs (and PETA) can and does come up here, this isn't really a news story.
