I have a question. I had my shepherd puppy neutered last week and just yesterday I noticed that the fur around his eyes is shedding off. I don’t know if it was the stress of the surgery (I don’t remember this happening to our other dogs) or if it’s the heat this summer? Just not sure. Of course I’ll take him to the vet if it worsens but if anyone has any idea why this has happened I would appreciate some advice. Thank you
Hi Kelly,
If you will read the post under "Small Skin Problem" which I just posted, you can see what my explanation is of this problem. Don't know if that is the problem with your dog or not. My Nickie had a similar problem with losing the hair around his eyes and also little bits of flaky skin could be seen around his eyes.
We have certainly had our share of heat here too this summer - last week it was 118 in the shade here in Las Vegas on our patio. However, both of our dogs are kept indoors in the air-conditioning.
