Okay, so Jenga is slipping and sliding in his crate...which is no problem during the day because he has a mat to prevent it. However, I take the mat out during feeding because...well...I don't want a blood-soaked mat. Gross, and hard to clean.
Can anyone think of something I could put down so I don't have to worry about injuries from a fall during feeding time? Preferably something super easy to clean/dry. He's already slipped a bunch of times and comes out limping for a few minutes, I'm afraid of hi being seriously injured...or that these frequent minor injuries might be bad for development (he's 6 months old).
I use regular cow mats that the farmers use. I'll try to find a link to them (I know there was some discussion on this forum about them). My mats stay in the crates all the time. I just use Chlorox wipes to clean them after the dogs eat. Once a week they get a good scrubbing with Tide water.
Super easy to maintain and the dogs can't chew through them.
If you want something less expensive I use the foam rubber mats that come in 24" squares and interlock together. Usually under 10dollars at auto supply stores and sometimes hardware stores. They are no where near as durable as the stallmats but for traction and clean up they work the same.
