I did a search on this and I don't think I found what I was looking for, so I'll ask. First, how do you get a titer test done and will all vets do this? Holistic vets are few and far between where I live. Bayley just had her yearly shots with as far as I can tell no ill effects. Fortunately the rabies this time was a 3 year. I also have 3 indoor cats, 2 haven't been vaccinated since they were kittens, the 3rd cat I just adopted and he had been vaccinated..last time for him! I do worry about parvo and lyme disease...lots of infected ticks where I live. I do check her for ticks if she's been out in long grass or in the woods.

I would not vaccinate for Lyme. I live about 20 minutes from Lyme CT and several of the vets I've used (including a holistic vet) have been quick to admit that they don't have very much confidence in the vaccine. Years ago when it first came out I did use it (and the booster) and my young ACD got Lyme about nine months later. Every animal on my farm has had Lyme at least once, and my red boy and two horses have had it twice. Still, I can't see vaccinating for Lyme when they know the vaccine isn't reliable.
I wondered how effective the vaccine was, so I think I'll skip it next year, so far I've only found one tick and that was last summer. I guess next year I'll have to check to see if my vet can give her just the shot for parvo and if not I'll look for one that does, if that's possible.
