OK, so with all of this talk of hot (and aggresive) dogs and cars, I thought I would ask if anyone had an idea for me.
I have a Dodge Charger now, and we are getting a new one in just a couple of weeks (lease is up and I want a newer one). I often take my dog with me places, and would like to make it more comfortable for us both by installing window bars (gaurds) in the back seat. This would allow me to roll the windows down, but keep his big head in. It would also allow me to roll the windows all the way down with him inside when parked for a sec, especially in the winter, without him being able to scare a passer by (or keep them out, I don’t get why people want to pet him when he is in the car , dumb dumb dumb!) or get out for any reason. Here are my criteria:
1)It has to look good. I want it to look professional
2)It has to be removable. I show property all the time, and, well, see above.
3)It has to cover the whole window, not one of those cheap accordion style deals.
4)It has to be STURDY. I don’t want a false sense of security.
So I know that I may have to go to a custom fabricator to have this done, but on the off chance, somebody else had seen this idea somewhere, that would be great!!! Now, I have looked into the different companies that provide cages and doors for police cruisers, but they do whole door panels, not just the windows, and again, see items 1 & 2 above.
Anywho, any ideas folks?
PS: We have an SUV with a crate which is the main means of transporting the dogs, but it doesn’t always work out that way. I just want to make things safe and comfortable for us all!

Window guard can be purchased from either Ray Allen or American Aluminum. We install them in all our cruisers along with a heat sensor. The heat sensor will roll the windows down and sound an alarm if it gets too hot in the vehicle. They are professional looking, hinged so the window can be cleaned. You can also instal a fan on one side (optional of course) that helps move a considerable amount of air in a hurry.
