Well I haven't received him yet as I am waiting until I move into a house we just bought in the country but I am bursting at the seams to share so here is my new pup, 'Dexel' (haven't named him yet). Hopefully he will be physically mine next week! He was kept back by the breeder but unfortunately for them (and fortunately for me!) he turned out to be coated so I get the little fluffball. The breeder is SchH intensive so he has had the best possible foundation training while he waits to fly out which is always a plus!
He will be my first SchH dog and I will be training him at K9 Nation so hopefully we will be seeing some of you in the future at events!
Wow, he's a beauty! I looked at all his pictures (clicking "next") and loved them all, especially the ones with him holding the dumbbell in his mouth and also the one of him on the slide going for the tug.
The fluff is just so appealing! Hope you get him before all the fluff is gone
Thanks Sandy! The videos I saw of him were amazing even as early as 8 weeks for focus on prey, the trainer was practically swinging him around his head (safely and I am exaggerating obviously) while elephants with trumpets and drums ran around and Dexel didn't even blink so I was charmed! I really love the 'before' pic when he still looks like a little sable jellybean and is eating his sibling.
Note to self and anyone listening though: don't try to buy a puppy and a house at the same time it is insanity!
I never thought I would really be into a coated GSD but he is so cute! My dream dog (I thought) was a non coated all black so you can all appreciate and understand I am sure how that goes! I think we all end up with the perfect dog for us at the time, planning aside. I am thrilled that the breeder found me on pedigreedatabase.
As an aside, your dog Lear is a beauty, I have been meaning to pm you about him and his breeder for future pup stuff!
A bit about me, I have been reading this site/forum for 3+ years and have another intro posted on a previous (same) name (keep losing my password!) for my albino dobe who is doing high level agility now.
Thanks Krista and Katie, your dogs are both gorgeous! Katie: I was surprised once I found out the pup was coated just how many goated GSD's there were out there, I think I had never 'seen' one until him and now they are everywhere. Krista: loved your 'nose story'! Sandy: I'll definitely post some agility pics of Marchosias. I ended up rehoming him to an agility trainer with 13 acres when he didn't make the cut for protection but we are in touch almost daily haha! I had put a lot of work in foundation puppy stuff for agility and S&R just in case so he turned out to be a great dog but I really only wanted one for sport and due to space before we ended up buying a house in the country didn't have enough space for two dogs. Regretting that decision now obviously but he is happy so there is that.
It's funny but I have never wanted 'just' a pet dog. I remember training my landlady's miniature poodle when I was 10 years old to walk a little obstacle course and how well it did and since then it's been all dog training all the time for me!
I still can't figure out the images thing on these forums if anyone has any tips I'd appreciate them! I use the image utton and nothing happens ut text...
Nice looking pup you have there. I see that your going to train him at k9 nation. Great choice. You'll like Francesco, but more than that, it's hard to find someone with his knowledge and capabilities.
