I know you where last addressing Will so i hope you don't mind me jumping in here. It kind of seems foolish to me for a school to Train you and certified you but then at the same time tell you there training isnt good enough for police work if thats exactly what they are certifying you for. I will give them credit for being up front with you and i think that has a lot to with the fact you have been training dogs for the last 6 years (i saw you post that in another topic) so that probably put you ahead of the other students.
But it still seems foolish to me that they would train and certify you and know that the certification isnt up to standard.
Mike,
I actually graduated from Nat K9 6 years ago, I was not already training when I attended the school. I think they meant in order for me to go into that line of work I would need additional advanced training. To receive the "Police K9" certification we participated in agitation and bitework, acted as decoys, (my personal favorite, love that adrenaline rush!) building, area & article searches , tracking & scent detection.I don't necessarily think they were saying their training wasn't good enough, but they just let me know how difficult it would be for me to pursue that line of work not being a police officer and how intensive it actually is. Your line of work is exactly what I would want to do if I was younger, figured out my passion too late in life!
