We had a little bit of a breakthrough with Starbuck this week. She spent about 45 minutes in the yard while I mowed the lawn.
The first several times I started up the mower she wanted to leave the area. She would head for the front yard or the back door. I was able to get her to come and “Check it out”, but she didn’t like it at all. Last week I left the mower on the patio right where she has her outside water bowl. The first time she looked around the corner she stopped dead in her tracks. After a day she just ignored the big green monster.
On Tuesday night I started to mow the lawn. She walked around the yard, always staying a good distance away from me. A couple times when I stopped to empty the bag she came up to say hi. I got to the point where she would sniff the catcher bag and the mower while it was off. She came up to about 5 feet with it running.
My last shepherd didn’t like the mower either, but she would bite the bag and the wheels. While it was running! Not a good idea
I can't tell if a white dog is an advantage or disadvantage some times. At least I can tell her feet are dirty
