We will be hosting a USA Decoy Seminar and Certification on Friday 9/7/07 starting at 9AM. Arthur Collins, the SE USA Regional Director will be the instructor for this event.
Please contact me for further details via PM if you would like to attend.
I will apologize in advance as I did not mention this in my previous posting. You will need the following to participate in the Decoy Seminar on Friday 9/7/07 @ 9AM.
1) Current USA Membership Card
2) USA Helper Book
3) $45 is the fee for the seminar
4) Bring your own sleeve, stick,& scratch pants.
5) You will also need to bring a dog with you that is capable of doing protection work that you can certify with. We are unable to provide dogs for this event, this is your responsibility!
We Certified THREE (3) Decoys for Schutzhund USA and had a great time doing it! We also have another eager decoy that will get certified on the next one with Mike Rivers working him over with all that stick work in the Florida heat. LOL
Mike, get that knee better so you can make it official next time. "Too Much stick and all that defense work ain't no good!" Leave it at home!! Thanks for showing us your demo.
I feel pretty lucky that we have 2 decoys at our club and will have 2 more certify on the horizon. That is a make it or break it for a lot of clubs.
It was a good event overall, and I was happy to use my dog. Hey Art, I think I too can see the light through my dogs mouth!!!
Maybe next time we can co-host a real training helper seminar with an accomplished trainer to bring more entries in for the club.
If anyone is ever down there give Art a call, I am sure you will have a nice time with your dog. We need more folks like Art in the sport. While he may be new and only in it for a couple of months, he is a fast learner and in a few years he will have forgotten more then some that have been in it for 20. I will be happy when he comes up to me and works with me, but Art " Leave, leave dat stick at your house, we not doing any of dat defense work at my place. And when you come, you come and stay"
Glad you asked. We are planning 2 upcoming events that should provide the Schutzhund crowd with exactly what we want in a club: Training, Seminars and Trials. And of course, fun and friendship.
On Jan 19-20, 2008 we plan on having a Schutzhund Seminar with an incredible trainer that is well known to those involved in the sport. Not only a great trainer, but a great person as well. I will announce it officially at a later date, we have filled up most of the handler slots already.
On Jan 26-27, 2008 we will be having our first Schutzhund USA Trial as a full member USA club and we are excited to host a trial right after the seminar so that everyone will be sharp. Hopefully, It will be nice and cool out and the dogs will be looking good because of it. So all of you snowed in Schutzhunders, come on down with your dog and join us at the trial.
The web site should be up and running soon with more information, pics of the club and the last trial. Bookmark it and check back in the following weeks. Our Webmaster decided to move to Belgium and goes to bed much earlier than I do with the time differential, LOL.
