I am taking Levi in on the 12th to have his leg xrayed...I spoke to the vet about his receeded teste. The vet says that since we will have to sedate him to xray his leg that we might as well neuter him the same day. He is willing to take only the receeded teste and leave the one that dropped as is. How does the forum feel about this? As long as he is left with one nut will he still mature correctly? As long as he has one nut will he still have enough drive in protection work? Thought I would get the opinion of the experts before making a decision. I only have one week to make up my mind...well, if I want to save some money that is. Still, it's not about money it's about my dog. What do you guys think?
I think as long as you leave one he would be like any other male dog. Higher risk for retained becoming cancerous. He should never be bred it is highly passed on to offspring.
At our clinic we've done one that we didn't neuter fully and good owner who would never breed him. He had a neuticle put in so he looked fully intact.
