The general tone here in town is that since Joe Arpaio hales himself as someone who is very tough on animal abuse that the media attention that ensued caused the Sherrifs Dept. to come into question. Everyone wanted to know why the officer hadn't been arrested right away. Half the city showed up for the funeral. Everyone calling for justice. Many protesting the Sherrif's Dept for not taking any action. It was really quite something to see. The community was outraged. I believe it was around that time that Sherrif Joe decided to make an arrest and charge the officer. That being said, Sherrif Joe doesn't mess around. He has taken the most serious of stance on animal abusers. Considering that the officer is only being charged with a misdemeanor speaks volumes of how Sherrif Joe feels about this incident. I read that the officer had worked double shifts and that his son was in an accident the day of the travesty. There is an old saying, "To ere is human but to really screw things up takes a computer" Thing is, computers don't feel guilt and regret for a lifetime. If this guy is the idiot he is being painted out to be then Joe is not the Sherrif I know.
BTW, this kind of thing happens at least twice a year here in Arizona...but with children. Makes you wonder what is happening to our society.
This may sound weird, but it says the dog was left in the car for 12 hours while he was running errands, eating dinner ect....
Wouldnt the officer have to get into the car to go from each place? Maybe Howards right and the system didnt go off... Makes more sense then the dog being left in a hot car sitting somewhere while he was driving a personal vehicle around?
Maybe I missed something.
I read that the officer had worked double shifts and that his son was in an accident the day of the travesty.
Any other person on the planet who just had the above happen could be acquitted for murder. Because its a cop there is no wiggle room. After all, everyone knows cops are heartless, faultless and experts at everything. Why would a cop get a break for having to experience life like everyone else? And the political pressure on the Sheriff to do something....A REAL Sheriff would stand by his officer.
Having receintly been witness to a similar accident that happened to a friend, a friend who is a excellent breeder, responsable dog owner/lover, I have a really hard time passing judgement based on a frickin news report.
I've been the "victim" of poor reporting more then once myself. Not dog related, just misinformation put out by the "press".

I don't know Bob, you are a pretty controversial fellow.....maybe you better dish the dirt and let us be the judge......cause only god knows what we are going to make up about you after your last provocative post!!!!!!!!
The media sucks...sorry they just do. Reading anything in the papers any more turns my stomach as I try to figure out what the angle is and how relevant it is to the hot news of the time. M. Vick and all the PETA and HSUS hysteria...hell why not throw a animal abuse twist on a story about a LE officer and his dog....has to be SOLID GOLD. Excuse me I just threw up in my mouth a little!!!!!!
I hope the facts come out some day, I feel for both principles in this story.

Shucks Susan, at my age any rumors you get started could only bolster my image. They gotta be more interesting then the real story. LOL!
