I have a 15 month old dog who is only a house pet. We take him everywhere we go and often times he is around other dogs. Lately I've noticed him getting more possessive and growly around other dogs and it concerns me that this could turn into a bigger problem. I would like to know how to correct this behavior.
Situation 1: He was growling and almost snapping at another dog that was chewing on a bone.
Situation 2: He was on my lap and another dog came up to say hello and he got growly at that dog.
Situation 3: He was chewing a toy into pieces and when I reached to take it from him he got growly at me.
Situation 3: He growls like crazy when we try to pry tissues out of his mouth.
I know that we have some pack leader issues. I would like some advice on how to fix that. And what do I do about his aggressive behavior towards other dogs? Could that turn into aggression towards humans? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
