Thanks for the kind words Sandy. We may have her in a pile of activities but the way I see it is there is always room for improvement in her training. It just seems like there is always something else to teach her or a behaviour to modify. The time just passes, it seems like just yesterday that she was a destructive nippy chewing monster.
We went sheep herding yesterday and the instructor and I were talking as my daughter worked the dog with the sheep. We were talking about the time we put into our dogs, going through the puppy stages through to adult dog.
I'm sure if you look back once your dog is a calmed down adult .. say 3-4 years old and if you took stock of the hours that you invested it would shock us!
So true. I do wish there was more to expose my dog to around here, as regards training for different things. He's working on protection training now and will be for a while into the future. I'd like him to do agility, just for the fun of it, not to compete, cause I know he'd love it.
I relate to what you're saying about the progression from biting, chewing monster to calm adult. Lear is only 15 mos and nowhere near calm yet although I can see he's getting there, but I remember the first, very first time he was calm for a few minutes. That happened within a day or 2, no joke, of the time he turned 1 year old. I started panicking cause I thought he was sick, so I hyped him up...a whole year with a crazy puppy and the first sign of calmness was so unexpected that I almost freaked...silly, I know
