My dobe is experiencing serious food issues. He was on the raw diet and he looks amazing!!! On occasion, he would get really picky about his food and wouldn't eat or have no desire to eat. There were times when we just tossed his food in the garbage because he wouldn't eat. Sometimes, we would make him skip dinner until the next day just so he would eat. We recently changed his diet and we are trying Timberwolf (he's been on it for a little longer than a week). For the first couple of days, he loved it and it was a joy to see him passionate to eat food again. However, he's becoming picky again. I feel like i need to coax him at times to eat. he gets alot of exercise on a daily basis (at least two long walks a day). We taken him to the vet and he has given my dobe a perfect, clean bill of health.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, what do you guys think about Timerwolf?

I don't feed my dogs right after execrise when they are hot.....I wait at least two hours......but that is an idea....exercise a few hours before feeding time.......just might work.

Thanks everyone. I usueally wait at least 1/2 before i feed him. I've done everything that all of you have mentioned before. i guess he just gets really bored of his food fast.
My dobe refused the kibble I used to feed her.. and haven't had problems since I've switched her to holistic foods, cans and kibble. Haven't gotten to raw just yet.
If she wouldn't eat, I'd toss it, and wait until the next day to feed her, and by that time, she'd normally be hungry again.
Haven't had too many problems of her not wanting food.
But, some people are pickier than others about food. Some could eat anything you give them.

I'm with Carol.
I believe that variety is a very good thing. My primary reason is the enhanced ability to cover all nutritional bases when the same food isn't fed 365.... because there is no one food that contains everything dogs need any more than there's one perfect people food that eliminates the need for all others.
But you would have the added benefit of keeping a non-food-driven dog interested.
Even if one took a very simple route of, say, swapping out your new kibble with Ocean Blue or another completely different protein source kibble .... I think the dog would be less likely to lose interest.
I think I'd go back to raw, though, and offer lots of variety. For example, you might try THK as a "gravy" over the raw food on some days. You could mix plain yogurt in. You could add some no-salt-added beef or chicken broth. Have you tried canned mackerel or sardines?
Even alternating raw with the occasional Wellness canned (they now have three varieties with no grain, 95% meat) might work.
