Last night my roommate was cleaning our garage (disaster area) and a seven inch long centipede crawled up his pant leg without him knowing it! He came inside and thought he felt something so he shook it out, saw it, and started screaming and doing the heeby jeeby dance - my dog, Arf, figured he was playing with him. He stepped on it whilst prancing and wiggling and it crawled up the back of his leg (show line giant schnauzer = lots of hair).
We aren't sure whether it came off inside, ouside, or if Arf ate it as he was biting at his leg right afterwards. Anyways, he is acting strange today and I'm not sure whether it's because he bit it, it bit him, or he's just tired because none of us could go to sleep and he tends to be a copy cat...
By strange I mean that just now he was lying in front of the door and I wanted him to go upstairs and watch a movie with me. He would not follow even for some hot dog pieces and when he finally did he flopped heavily to the floor and would not move again.
I did a google search and all that I could come up with was that centipedes are generally not harmless to larger dogs. Should I be worried about him?

What I have read is that they won't kill a large dog, or even a child, but that they are poisonous (with a kinda weak toxin). I think that the only real danger is from a possible allergic reaction, which would present first with a bump. Are you seeing a lump?
I'd probably call the weekend vet.
This is all JMO from remembered reading. I haven't looked up the subject lately, and I'm not a health professional.
