The breeder has a very minimal vaccine protocol so that is better than most dogs are exposed to. If you feed raw that will also keep the pup healthier than most. If you do start to see some symptoms that don't respond to treatments (I would try homeopathic first) Dr. Pitcairn has had success using homeopathic Thuya to relieve symptoms of vaccinosis.
I think that feeding raw is going to do the most to help the dog to heal itself.
Vets can do a test for parvo. Pups can get it from the ground or infected feces.
I'm glad to hear that you got another pup.
Please tell everyone you can about vaccinosis and feeding raw. You obviously have the intelligence and conviction to see the flaws in the system and you can help others see it to. The more times people hear about experiences like yours the more likely they are to change their way of thinking.

I'm with Debbie. Congratulations!
And I absolutely do heartworm meds, since there is now heartworm in every single state. The number of months you need it depends on your climate.
Some states allow you to avoid a Rabies shot with a note from your vet. My vet would not write a note for Starbuck, so she got the “Killed” Virus. You might as well ask the vet if he/she will write you at note that the shot poses more of a danger than the disease.
The Heartworm meds are NOT the same as the vaccines. Ed talks about that somewhere on the web site. We use Heartguard for Starbuck.
Starbuck received one set of shots from the breeder; 4 way DAPP (Intervet brand)
She received 3 additional sets of the DAPP from the local vet (Merial brand)
And finally she is on Frontline Plus. The Frontline Plus is good for 60 days on the fleas.
We have not noticed any reaction to the shots or the flea meds.
My first White Shepherd picked up Parvo when she was very small. I caught it the first time she threw up and took her to the vet immediately. She was able to bounce back after 2 days. Parvo can live in the ground for a VERY LONG TIME. If your first pup had Parvo, did they test for that?, then there is about a 100% chance it is in your yard. You will need to watch the new pup like a hawk. I think they check stool for Parvo.
Marty, if you're going to do a test for parvo, please DO NOT leave the room or let them take your pup out of the room without you. I wouldn't put it past many vets to just vaccinate without your permission and then hand you the bill and the vaccinated puppy.
Of course, you'll be wanting to look into another vet as well.
