I have an interview scheduled to meet with a trainer in Tucson that apprenticed for a year with Ivan and was wondering what the forums opinion was on training for pp with such a person.
Hmm...apparently my question wasn't direct enough. More directly... I understand Ivan Balabanov as an accomplished Schutzhund trainer with many titles and seminars to his name. For a trainer to apprentice with him for a year, might I assume that this person is an expert in Schutzhund only or equally trained in Personal protection. I know the trainer has placed well at helper competitions and is involved in many other training fields.

Never heard of him, but that means nothing. The only think I can say is I could play basketball with MJ for years and I would never be as good. So it is hard to say, alot just has to do with natural abilities.
Since you aren't being flooded with answers about this person - why don't you contact Ivan and ask him what he thinks of this person's training ability.

Also, if you get the chance to work with Ivan, take it. I had a chance and missed it due to scheduling conflicts. He was going to evaluate my Mal for me.
But in a week and a half I get to go and meet Wayne Simanovich so I am really looking forward to that and nothing is going to stop me......
