I'm bummed that I missed that auction last week with the 2” Leather Agitation Collar.
I’ll need a new collar in the next month or so and I’m trying to decide between the 1” Flat Leather collar (http://www.leerburg.com/flatleathercollar.htm) and the 1 ¼” Leather Agitation collar (http://www.leerburg.com/leatheragitcollar.htm).
Would there be any disadvantage to using the Agitation collar as a “normal” collar?
I use agitation collars as regular collars all the time. Ofcourse, my dogs only wear collars when I leash them, otherwise they don't wear anything. Not sure if the stiffness of an agitation collar would cause discomfort if left on 24/7?
I dont think I own any "regular" collars anymore other than puppy collars, they don't seem to last that long. Most of the time I use a leash like this one:
But the one I have here has a metal "stop" on it to adjust it to the dogs neck size, so it doesnt act like a choker when they pull. My dogs dont wear collars and its great for catching annoying puppies on their way out of the crate

All my dogs wear the nylon snap collars, which have their tags on them.
I use 1" TO 1.5" flat leather, prongs or fur savers for walks and obedience.
I find that the agitation collars will rub and break off hair after long periods of time.
I would go with the just a basic flat collar if you want leather and you are not going to be doing anything that would require the use of an agitation collar.
I have some of those from LB as well and they are nice, pliable yet sturdy and stand up to wear and tear.

Another option is this collar http://www.leerburg.com/1062.htm . It's the one I got, it's an agitation collar with a handle. The ring for the leash is on the handle. I got the 1 1/4" one so it would be close to the size of a flat collar. It's incredibly supple, no stiffness whatsoever to it, and I find it very handy to use as a regular flat collar and the handle on it makes it great for grabbing it if you need to when there's no leash attached. A kind of a 2 in 1 collar.
