I will admit that I feed racoons, but I don't think they're cute after they're skinned. The dogs have no trouble avoiding those sharp teeth when they eat them, the same goes for 'possum, ground hog, or any other fur bearer we have around here. The farm dogs who eat such things do not have a problem with parasites. They enjoy the variety and are none the worse for wear.
I do see a big jump in the numbers of tapeworm after they eat wild deer and rabbit. As Steven said, worming takes care of it.
Canines were designed to eat animals, wild canines (or farm/hunting dogs) get a large percentage of their food from sick and old animals, as well as insects. These food items are bound to have parasites, if dogs/canines were naturally vulnerable to them we would be having this discussion about protection trained horses or something instead of dogs because the canines would have died out a long time ago.
I feel a little more secure now in feeding the alligator parts to the dogs and somewhat validated in my decision not to feed the organs of the gators to the dogs.
Always looking for training avenues close to home. Any suggestions?

I really was kidding about protection trained horses, but they might be coming if breed specific legislation is allowed to run amok. http://www.guidehorse.com
