show up in a dog's coat/skin? Just wondering. Right now my dog is being bathed daily w/prescription shampoo for Demodex mange (he's 3 mos old). We have one week left of daily bathing (the vet put him on a month of daily baths w/Benzoyl Peroxide? shampoo - don't remember the exact name off the top of my head). I always am very careful to condition him after treatment (vet said this was fine), and then rinse him super, super thoroughly. But his skin is starting to flake anyway (like dandruff). One more week and the bath ordeal is over, thank goodness.

I really hate the fact that his skin must be drying out, but I had to do something, his hair was falling out. After the 4th day of baths, I could tell his hair started growing back in right away. So the baths are working, just having dryness as a side effect, i guess. I bought Vit E and Salmon Oil through Leerburg, and it arrived today. I plan to keep him on this throughout his life, but I was wondering how long it takes for the benefits to show up for a dog? Just curious.

Usually, three weeks or so, IME.

In this case, you won't see full benefits until the daily bathing is over AND he is free of Demodex. But the Omega 3s and E will still help, even now.
