Does anyone have experience with Steve's Real Food -- stevesrealfood.com. I know it's expensive, but I am a single guy who can barely grocery shop and cook for myself. Convenience is key for me. Currently, I feed Eagle Pack Holistic Select, and supplement with raw meet.
Thanks

Hi Adam,
I have used the Steve's, it's not a bad product. Though I did mainly use it for tracking. Actually, I like their list of ingredients. However, I found that for the price Farmore was a much better deal. Not to mention that the Farmore has ground up bone in it. Don't like the way Steve's packages either, you have to be sure to use the food much sooner due to the fact that it's in chunks which are loose in a bag (leaves too much room for air). This may not be a problem for you, for me it was because I purchase anywhere from 800 to 1500 lbs at one time. If I didn't use the Steve's within a certain time frame it would become freezer burned. Sometimes it seemed to happen rather quick - so no telling how long it sat in the warehouse before I got it.
If I remember right, Nature's Variety is about the same price (or better) then Steve's --- Nature's Variety is a very good product imo.
One thing that may be of concern with Steve's is that a while back (don't know if it has been rectified yet or not) they were changing processing plants and basically were out of production for several months. They lost a lot of customer base due to that reason. So, like i said i don't know if they are back to full production or not, but if not, the product may not be as available as you think.
So all that aside <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Yes, Steve's is a good product overall.

There is a REALLY good product out there now called K9 cravings. It's much better than Steves. It's made by a company that makes human meat products. It's 100% raw and I have to admit that it is by far the best meat product I've ever seen. It's the only food for dogs in the US that is USDA approved. Not the ingredients, the food itself. If anyone is interested, you can email me privately for the phone number.

Mike,
How did the USDA manage to approve an animal feed, since by law they cannot?

They use 100% human edible meats and have a USDA inspector on the premises. It's the ONLY USDA approved dog food in the united states. If you don't believe it, call the USDA. K9 Cravings has their number on their website.

Mike,
Their processing/packing facility is USDA certified, the food is not. The USDA has no pervue over animal feeds.

Call 410-675-1263 and ask for Bob Siemeck.
He is the USDA inspector for Boesl MFG.
He can explain it better than I can.
