I everyone, i am new to the forum and would like some advice.
I have a new GS and need to get a tug toy for training. I have been reading on the different types and still am not sure which to get. Which tugs are are best, and why?
My main goal is building drive.
If building drive is your main goal, I would seriosly recommend an orbee ball! I wasn't having the best of luck with drive, although Levi always loved to tug and bite, until I got the orbee ball and watched Building Drive and Focus with Bernard Flinks, sold here at Leerburg. Even now, Levi prefers his orbee over any other toy that we have for him. Today we were playing outside and I picked up the big rope tug that I have for him he chased it and then we played tug until he won. As soon as he won he walked it over to where the orbee was laying on the ground, dropped it, picked up the orbee and came trotting back to me! I think there is something in the way the orbee feels on the dogs teeth that they just love. They can really bite into it but it doesn't fall apart. One of the best investments I have made so far!
BTW, welcome to the forum! You have found the best place on the web for learning anything there is to know about GSDS! With the best people too!

Edit reason: forgot a welcome!
Just don't make the same mistake I did. I was told a tug should be big enough to fit the dog's mouth, so I bought one large enough to do so. Problem was I couldn't get my rather small hands around it, so had to donate it to our club equipment bag!
