My pup (4 1/2 months) finally understands what 'No!' means, and boy is that a big one for me.
She's restricted to the kitchen and living area (basically one open room), and we keep the hallways to the bedrooms gated; she's never allowed in the bedrooms. Yesterday morning one of us left the gate open, and she made a mad dash for my son's bedroom, and as I saw her heading there I gave her a firm 'No!' and much to my surprise she turned around and came back into the living room. A fluke, I thought...but the same thing happened this morning and she responded appropriately again to my 'No!'. I immediately praised her when she came back into the living room...What a great feeling!
One question; I only have the puppy video, and will be gettimg the basic obedience video soon. When I am giving her commands, is it OK for me to say her name before the command? (ie 'Chula, down') Or should I just be saying the command?
I don't know enough to comment on whether or not to say your pup's name with the command, or just the command, but I just had to comment. What a BEAUTIFUL pup!! My gosh, I just love that little face and those EYES!! I bet that little nose is as soft as velvet. Enjoy the puppy breath while you still can, they grow up very fast.
