Has any one heared of {vf} veterinarian formulated complete? I am feeding natural life now ,but the man at pet store said this vf is a much better dog food. It has no corn or soy in it. I just want to feed what ever is best for a working rottwieler puppy. Or maybe i need to try raw. I donot know if i know how or what to feed raw. Just want the best for him.

Okay, here's what you were talking about. Not too bad, but brewer's rice is the 2nd ingredient and beet pulp the 4th. The large amount of chicken fat seems a little unusual as well (3rd). Might have a short shelf life. That said, I might use it if the local feed store carried it.

Yes the feed store is about 5 miles from my house.
The lady i get natural life from is abut 2 hours away. I think you for your post .South Carolina is a long way from some of the good foods
for dogs.

I should have qualified my statements. I like it more than natural life (which has corn, no thanks). There are only about a 1/2 dozen brands of dog food that I would consider, so making my short list is no small feat. I just don't endorse any brand I haven't tried.
I used to live in SC (Beaufort area) and feel your pain. I would get dog food whenever I traveled, and get the best I could find in the area otherwise. Have you tried Blackwood? Their offices are in SC so it is easier to find than some other brands.
I would definitely suggest raw as the best diet, but not everyone is ready to do that just yet or full time. I'm so excited because I might be able to start raw with Auster soon (she bloated and almost died, her stomach was black and near dead by the time the vet got around to surgery so her returning to full health is a huge accomplishment)! She ate the raw hamburger out of a stuffed pepper she stole with no ill effects .

Randy I have never heard of VF but from reading the other posts it doesn't sound too great. Feeding you're dog kibble or BARF is a decision only you can make. Just spend some time going back through old threads on this board and also read all the readily available information on the web. I have had enormous and wonderful results with Chicken Soup For The Dog Lovers Soul. It is in my opinion one of the best kibbles out there. I also feed BARF but switch back and forth never mixing the meals. By this I mean one meal is all kibble with other things added and the other meal may be all BARF. Ed has informatin on this site concerning all the different types of good kibble if you decide to go that way. Chicken Soup is made by Diamond but they have there own web site.
