I have just switched my 3 dogs to a raw diet in the last two weeks. The difference is amazing, especially in the yard poop patrol department .
But, a few questions, just to clear my mind:
1. Chicken gizzards ar a muscle meat or an organ meat?
2. How often for tripe? 2x/ week ok, or more, on average?
3. I have started out feeding 65% (or so) RMB, the balance muscle meat, organs, and veggies. One of my dogs has mild hip dysplasia. Will this ratio be enough to prevent ca/phos imbalances?
4. Leg quarters have a lot of meat on them. When serving, should I add a little ground eggshell?
I know these are mother hen questions, I just sometimes read conflicting info from books, and would like the people who have been feeding raw for a while to offer comments, etc, or anyone else for that matter! I realize that balance over time is key, but when dividing up 100# plus of raw innards (yuck), I would like to know approximate size portions per week, or so.
Thanks in advance, and contemplating vegeterianism. Tripe, beef heart, yuck, yuck..

Not calling myself an expert but I have also read a lot and have been feeding my 5 month old GSD since he arrived. One thing i learned and can pass along is to not try to get so sceintific, dont worry about getting the perfect porportions. Just work in a good variety, remember your veggies, plain yogart at least once a week, and always add the egg shell with the egg.
Also, i would not feed the legs, the ratio of meat to bone is too high. I stick to necks, wings and backs.
Good luck and good choice.
