I know this is supposed to be a place to discuss issues with rescue dogs, but just wanted everyone to know that I FINALLY found a gsd in need, that was perfect for me. And to boot, the kil facility GAVE him to me, because I was willing to rescue him. What a great deal for HIM and me. It is so sweet to smell the smell of a shepherd, as you who have them know, they have a smell of their own, and when I reached down tonite, to hug him with my and my head, I smelled that familiar smell,,,,,and it was sweet.

I rescue dogs on my own, from bad situations and now a shelter. Gator/Rieko will be the 4 th this year. My second gsd.
I have been without a rescue dog for about 3 months now, and missed them terribly. I tried to work with rescue group, and ended up being the bad guy, so was unable to get one from there. But I spend a lot of time on craigslist. Some people hate the site, but I have had nothing but excellent people on there. I now have moved around and aquired 6 dogs thru that forum and I find it to be a great place , you just have to weed thru the trash.
Anyway found a white shepherd that was in a kill shelter, and due to issue on previous adoption, was running out of time. He had already went out once, and came back coz he nipped a ladies guest. She obviously, didnt do groundwork before releasing him in the home and happened only 4 days after adoption. Any way, instead of fixing the problem she caused, she dumped him back and there he was. When I found the ad, he was on a last ditch ad, to get someone who could handle take him. Lucky for me, I found him.
I got my first kisses about 3 mins into the car ride, and he is nothing but great so far. Already ob trained and seems like he has great potenital.
If any problems come up, of course I will rely on the wonderful information this site has, and just wanted to Thank everyone , for all of the help and support that I have gotten with my previous dog Jack.
Just wanted everyone to know, there was another sucess story today for the german shepherd dog, one great dog, out of a kill shelter, shelter willing to work with you for no fee, and dog and people are happy.
Isn't it nice to hear a great story ??????

I always love to hear another happy ending. I know that smell too and miss it awfully. Got Molly now though and wouldn't give her up for anything but maybe some day I'll have another GSD.
