It was so cool! He wore his Therapy Dog - In Training vest, and I called ahead to Hasting and Borders, and both stores gave me permission to bring him in. I was really surprised at how receptive the store managers were to having a dog come in. I emphasized that he was not yet a registered therapy dog (don't want to be misleading), and that I was training him and trying to expose him to more public places, and they were fine w/it. It was so fun - he was really well-behaved! It occurred to me that it was his first exposure to carpeted floors other than ours - that seemed to interest him more than anything. Not what I expected. He was so mellow - he laid down a couple of times for about 2-3 minutes while I pretended to look at books, not bad for a 4 month old!
I am so psyched about having a goal to work towards with my dog. I realize it's not a big goal like a lot of you all have achieved (I admire all of you with working dogs), but for an amateur, I'm really having fun. LOL!

Fun is what it's all about . I LOVE working with therapy dogs...I get excited when I realize I have a dog that is suitable for this work! I've had a lot of good times over the years, and met a lot of great people this way. The dogs do the patients a great deal of good. It's a great goal to have, and your dog will have a job. You're well on your way; good job at the book store!

Great Job Kori....and remember, Kodee is a working dog if you are going to be doing therapy work with him.
And it is a very big goal to work towards. Therapy dogs work wonders with people and I commend you for doing it.
