i understand it may only be as accurate as my behavior descriptions, but wondering if someone could give me a hint as to what my 16 week male dobe's tendencies seem like, i.e nerves, sharpness ect...
Retrieving: will go after anything thrown and bring back but not right to me. even leaves blowing by him.
Nipping: will nip, although not as much as a couple of weeks ago, at pant legs and back of leg if i run ahead of him. Use to go for the face whether to lick or nip.
Barking: Rarely barks. will bark when neighbor dog barks. and while in the backyard when a delivery company came to the house next door, house sits a bit behind mine to the left.
Approaching strangers: Approaches on his own, appears to be very friendly, no shyness displayed ever.
Alterness: towards strangers next door he will just stop and stare, no sound from him at all. will stare at most sounds indoors or out.
Dog socialization: cocker spaniel next door 5 year female, not friendly. she scared him when he was about 10 weeks she came running in our yard he ran for the door. last week she was out on leash and he was interested but she was barking and growling he did the same. he would approach then back off. she stopped growling and he went right up to her only for her to growl again.
Petco, friendly toward small beagle.
Let me know if you would need any other info.
Appreciate any responses. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
You seem to have all the questions a typical new trainer has. I recommend getting Ed's 8 weeks to 8 months video. It will answer all these and much more.
Sound to me like a pretty typical well tempered 16 week old pup. I just recently got a dobe pup myself, he turns 13 weeks on monday! What lines is your dog out of?
