Can anyone give a reason for this happening with the raw diet. Any speficic foods, etc. A friend said his vet blamed it on the raw diet. My guess is he may be giving to many veggies in relation to meat and bone. Could that cause it? I also suggested he remove brockly, brussel sprouts, cabbage family in general. Wish I could give more info.
I take it, it is a high Ph urine value, so my first question is why was there a urinalysis done? This is usually not a routine test on annual visits (not even with humans anymore!).
A raw diet will increase the acidity in the stomach which aids in digestion vs an alkaline stomach on kibble. So higher Ph in stomach with raw, lower Ph with kibble. That is part of the reason the raw fed dogs can handle change in diet and also the acid will kill any bad bacteria the dog may encounter. I don't know that removing the 'cabbage' family from diet would lower urine Ph values...

Bob, I too have hear that dongs do not tolerate any members of the cruciferous (brocolli, cabbage, etc) family that well. I stuck with dark leafy greens and not in large quantity.
Actually i got away from veggies for the most part and fed green tripe instead when i could.
These are the reasons I suspect he's feeding to much veggies in % of meat/bones. Lisa, I'm not sure on the UTI. I don't know what the reason for the test was. I'll have to contact him again tomorrow.
