Wolves don't fast in the wild. When food is plentifull they will eat smaller amounts every chance they get. When food gets scarce they start gorging, because they don't know when the next meal will come. But those days where they can't find food are called starving. Fasting means not eating on a voluntary basis. I have a pretty hard time thinking a pack of wolves would see a wounded deer and say "hey leave that poor thing be, we've already eaten 6 days this week".
"Wild carnivores feed at irregular intervals. In a domestic setting regularity works best and accordingly I suggest that you feed adult dogs and cats once daily. If you live in a hot climate I recommend that you feed pets in the evening to avoid attracting flies.
I suggest that on one or two days each week your dog may be fasted — just like animals in the wild.
On occasions you may run out of natural food. Don’t be tempted to buy artificial food, fast your dog and stock up with natural food the next day.
Puppies, cats, ferrets, sick or underweight dogs should not be fasted (unless on veterinary advice)."

every living thing can benifit by fasting every once in a while in cluding us humans, from the age of 20 until i was 35 i missed out eating one day every week,
I was a fit fellow then no extra fat and full of energy. all i had on that day was water and that day was a tuesday every week, I think i benifited by it in my daily life and my sport, I wish i was still doing it regular some 32 years on, but for my age i guess i feel pretty good, So i see no reason why the Dogs should not be fasted once a week. On Sundays mine get fed only once owing to the Training Times, We never feed the Dogs before a Training Session, so we leave home at 8.30 in the morning and get home around 2.30 in the afternoon, the dogs are give a small treat and fed at five oclock, but no extra on the feeding, just the normal evening feed
