Mike, you might remember I was really interested in your original thread on this subject. I really appreciate the update.
Kudos to you for going to the source of the info instead of just giving up when it "stopped working." And kudos to the author for not disregarding your questions just because they were about a dog, not people. I think he answered intelligently and thoughtfully, and HELPFULLY!
Let us know what happens with the new treatment. And again, thanks for posting this.
I have been alternating Probiotic Defense by NOW(got it at the health food store) and yogurt with good success.
Pro. Defense is made from femented soil organisms, super green foods(alfalfa, kelp, etc) as well as milk products.....says it has over 1 billion organisms. It is a little pricey($30.00 for 90 caps.) but, I think it's pretty good....I take it too!

Might be worth a try for your girl.
Merry Christmas,
Debbie
Do you happen to know if it's independently tested? I am slowly collecting a list of the best.... or at least the best-tested.

In any event, I think this $h!+ works!
HTH you!
Mike
Me too. I went into it thinking that once infancy was passed, introducing good bacteria was no longer useful. (And infancy is indeed the ideal time, from all that I've read.) But when Mike recommended the book and I started following the suggestions in it, I too saw results.
As the author says, many times, it's an individual matter as to what one system needs, and what works..... I did trials on probably 7 different live-culture yogurts and am now doing capsules. Each trial is weeks, so it's slow going. But I have seen enough improvement in atopy to keep slogging along.
This is the one Dr. Becker prescribed for Mia, along w/2 leaky gut supplements. I would say Mia is 100% better...if not "cured." http://www.gardenoflife.com/detail_primal_defense.shtml
Some of you might remember she had literal HOLES in her skin from a flat collar I left on her for 7 hours.
Hi Connie, I don't see anything on the label about it being independently tested. Like you, I have been trying different things. So far, I have had the best luck with the capsules rather than the yogurt, so only give the yogurt because the dogs like it.
The one that Jenni listed sounds great, think I will try it next.
I only have one dog that has skin and ear problems(a rescued small breed with long hair that has been waaaaay over vaccinated). The results have been far better than I expected since starting the Pro Defense.
