I don't believe NVBK is FCI recognized, which would mean that AKC doesn't recognize it either.
It's my understanding that you can only register dogs with AKC that are from an FCI recognized organiztion (like St. Hubert for Malinois, or SV for GSDs to name just a couple of examples)
Saint Hubertus (FCI recognised) has been obliged by law to recognise NVBK pedigrées. They refuse untill now. Legaly this means that NVBK pedigrees have become internationaly recognised. Untill this year SH could take a nvbk dog and put another pedigrée on it to work in Belgian ring Saint hubertus. Due to a change in the national register of dogs (ABIEC); they include from now on the name of the society that issued the pedigree this track has been effectively been closed(in belgium all dogs are identified by chip and/or tattoo, these records are held in a national register). This is a permanent register so these records are kept. SO now SH has a problem
Add to this that in 2006 (if my memory is correct)NVBK invited 3 other organisations Kennelclub, VOF (ithink) and SH for a meeting with the purpose of uniting the BR programme. SH didn't participate. Kennelclub and VOF decided to join forces under the rules of NVBK. After the changes in the national register SH demanded a cooperation between NVBK and SH. NVBK refused arguing that they are effectively the largest ringorganisation in belgium and that no cooperation with SH is possible befor they recognise the law and the NVBK pedigrees.
This is nonconfirmed information comming from a member of the NVBK general board and not the pedigree commission
