At the very least if you don't wish to pursue legal action, report him to the BBB and any other local organizations that you can.

If most of the people scum like this take advantage of don't do anything he will continue to get away with it and many more people will be duped in the future.

Hopefully reporting him will save people in the future the same troubles you have gone through.

Hard lesson to learn for the future, but get everything in writing, no matter how trustful the other party seems. This applies to just about any private purchase, not just dogs.

So sorry for your troubles. The first German Sheppard I bought was as shy and scared as she could possibly be, she was fine with children but terrified of adults. At 3 months old she would hide under a table and growl if we had anyone come into our home. For all her fear related faults she was a totally loving devoted companion and will always hold a special place in my heart. She did eventually settle down and would stay in the same room with certain family and friends that come over lots of times, other then that she would go back to the bedroom and wait for the person to leave before coming back out. I think by the time she reached five years of age she calmed down enough where she would quit running from the room when someone she didn’t know came over.

This same scared of her own shadow dog, was taught to go to my 2 yr old daughter on command. One day when my daughter was 3 she wondered away from our home when I stepped in side to get something (my bad), and I was frantic running around the apartment building looking for her. Then I turned my dog loose and told her to go find my daughter and Duchess took me right down the block directly to my daughter. The dog had overcome her own fear of leaving my side and passed several strangers along the way to get to my daughter. Wonderful=Wonderful dog.

If only you lived closer, I would be happy to adopt her from you.

Thanx all! I agree I need to pursue this as far as possible for not just my own sanity but for the dog... I have decided to file and notify the world. Any ideas on where I can post my experience will be greatly appreciated. So far I have the IL Attorney General, USDA, AKC, BBB, ROR and complaints board. I will keep you posted on the court battle. Wish me luck!!

Well, I hope that you would take him to the court. Maybe you can make a blog or a website that is about him. A good chance that you aren't the only person who got ripped off. Maybe you can work together to build up a case against him? Maybe you can get in a court something similar to "People's Court" or Judge Judy? I dunno.
