Ah yes, th biting. As I mentioned, her favorit toys are a plastic chickn that sounds like a duck when bit upon. It is dressed in a Santa suit and a wooly lamb that also squeaks. It is endorsed by AKC. I stick those in her mouth after telling her no bite. Most of the time it works. Again, teaching her to sit for a treat was a Godsend. That butt hits the floor so fast when I say sit, it's hysterical. It gives her something positive to do; only problem is that she sits and sits a lot for me, hoping for a treat. Howevr, her attention span is fairly short and she forgets about it if I show her I have no treats. I am also finding that the more she has to do, the less she bites. It's hard not to pay attention to her all th time because she is so engaging, but I think it's good for her too. that way she knows she is not the center of the universe. We give our pups more freedom than is recommended, although we constantly watch her.
Teaching bite inhibition can be a little frustrating at times. Find ways to let your dog know if they bite too hard and redirect their attention to something else. It might be a little harder to over come since she was so young when you got her but, not impossible.
I'm not very hip on puppy classes either. That fulfills the human emotions more than it does the dogs. It is ok to give an appropiate correction at this age if the dog rebounds from the correction quickly. Often all it takes is a stern no or touch them somewhere they don't expect to break their thought when they are biting.
