Hi all, I was wondering if anyone who has taught their pup "no bite" could tell me exactly how they did it. Max is just not learning it no matter what we do. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've got scratches and marks all up my arms because he thinks it's great fun to bite. It's all playing but it's too rough and he needs to learn we don't play that way.

Puppies bite and it certainly does hurt. Keep a toy handy and when he bites you say "No Bite" and give him the toy. When he grabs it, mark that with "Yes!" or "Good boy!" or whatever word you use.
My "No bite" command became "Ow" somewhere along the way so my dog now responds to that and stops chomping on me.
I was told to whine loudly and pitifully whenever my pup started chewing on me - it worked! We did this when she was 8wks... Probably won't for an older dog, but supposedly that is what their littermates do when they chomp too hard is wail...whenever I cried out she stopped and immediately started licking my hand. I became hypersensitive and yelped pathetically whenever a tooth even TOUCHED my skin so now she never does it (she thinks I am a delicate flower...lol)
