My GSD is 3mths. old, He is crate trained, he has never messed in his crate which is great, but now all of the sudden he's been messing in the house, usally he cries by the back door to go out, so what I have noticed now is when it is getting dark he goes a few feet outside but then runs back in the house before he does his thing. Most of the time he is fine, he'll go outside run around and play but other times it seems he is afraid. I don't put him on a leash do you think thats the problem?
Based on your previous post he is probably afraid. You should go out with him and take him out further in the yard and not let him go back into the house until he has done is buisness. Praise him like crazy for going out side. This is a bit of a nervous puppy that needs to learn that he has your support and that he isn't alone in the world. Don't make a big deal out of his fear just praise for doing what he is supposed to do.
If you can't be a Good Example, then You'll just have to Serve as a Horrible Warning. Catherine Aird.
