To answer your question, no, my puppy did not specifically have too much cuddling. (how could I have cuddled with the lil monster???!!!)
What!?!?
A Fetz puppy *wasn't* cuddily?
Wasn't and Isn't!!! UGH!!!!
But, I have noticed his respect levels are a LOT greater now that we have the "EXTREME PACK STRUCTURE" under way. When you said serious dog, you weren't a kiddin.
Serious dog or not, as for play time, with baby pups, yes, balance is key! If I had to go back, I'd certainly structure the play time ONLY after exercise and marker sessions.
Make the dog have to earn the play time. Of course genetics and drive levels effect how this works...but balance is key IMO. If and when the dog is not entirely focused on YOU, then it's time to tighten up on leadership...firm, fair...no frills.
IMO, it's easy for new puppy owners to fall prey to the puppy's apparent ADD. BUT. It's important to keep this in check if you want a balanced dog later.

Michele, thanks for your post.
You got me thinking, maybe I will buy a few copies of that video and send it home with Spy's current litter. Do you think that would of made a big difference?
I know with the PW/Doc litter I am requiring proof of insurance, medical with psychiatic coverage!

BAH HAAA! Good call!!!!
Personally, I do believe the pack structure video is awesome. Ed really spells it out...that combined with the puppy groundwork literature, you can't go wrong. The video is especially helpful for the watch and do types...

That's an idea, think I'll get a couple ordered. Eyes are barely open and the whelping box as containment is already history and I heard my first "I'm mad" puppy growl.
Are you ready for a little 1/2 brother yet? LOL
Now PW/Doc is going to be interesting. One line bred on Grim, one linebred on Pike and a little Mink and Lord thrown into the mix. What was I thinking?
If I don't get a female out of this litter I'm shipping the whole kaboddle up to you. After all they will be what, your 1/2 nephews? <VBG>

Waiting for Spy's little darlings get to the super cute you can not resist stage! They only just turned two weeks last Friday. My runt who I was concerned about, he is literaly 1/2 the size of the moose, is Mr. First. First to open his eyes, first to excape the box, first to beat up the Moose.....
The PW/Doc pups are still a nightmare in the making. They aren't due to the first week of March so I'm enjoying the respite and battening down the hatches before their arrival. It should be an interesting household with the overlap in litters.
I expect to be visiting the liquor store on a regular basis.....
