Session 1, puppy bitework @ Donna Matey's Michael Ellis seminar
Rush hadn't had a harness on or done any puppy bitework since December, he was incredibly annoyed by being held like a suitcase
As the weekend went on , he got the hang of carrying and being held by the harness.
I am really pleased with his bitework, especially considering he had just started teething. I can't wait to see how he progesses once the whole teething process is complete!

Hopefully Lynne Barrows drops in to watch this.......
Lynne, this might be a great way for you to possibly train Chula too. I have never seen the "between the legs" way of doing it before the seminar.
As long as Chula stays has a good calm grip (for safety purposes since she is older), and you can safely do it with her size, I think this would work for you.

I am guessing that when you say "the between the legs way" you mean how I am holding the tug for the out?? (I know, I know, get my mind out of the gutter )
I only did it this way because if I tried holding it any other way Rush would place his feet on my leg and PUUUUUUULLLLLLLLL really hard backwards. I could not keep the tug still and he got a lot of satisfaction from doing this.
I tried a lot of different things and this seemed to make it the most clear to him.

Yes, the holding the tug for the out is what I meant.....
I was thinking this may work for her since Chula is (I think) 8 months now and she wanted to know if she could start teaching the out in a different thread.
When I was watching you do this at training I thought it was a great way to teach it. I did give her info about "trading" to get her started.
But, I do think it may be a recipe for disaster with a dog like Jesea was at the seminar....taking the cheap shots...
(actually she is MUCH better at waiting for it now)

I have a couple other sessions from the weekend to edit and upload. He got more and more "into it" as the weekend went on. He also got the hang of carrying the sleeve too. The floor in that building got very slick, and for the athletically challenged ME it became downright scary to attempt to run in there.
Ed constantly reminds me of my lack of good running form as it is, so I am kind of self conscious about this whole video thing.
I guess traveling outside your comfort zone is good for you, huh?
