I know any dog has the potential to attack and do damage, but as a pit owner myself I get especially aggravated when I see people who just LET their pits, who suffer from a negative rep already just run free. I just get so mad because it's people like THAT that cost owners such as myself the ability to even own the breed in some areas.
Yup...it's 'that special kind of person' interested in those dogs now. EVERY dog except one I have been challenged by is a pit in my neighborhood. When they get tired of these dogs we'll see another predominant breed type roving the streets It was actually very refreshing to meet STABLE, HAPPY pit bulls who were (gasp) friendly! A few good ambassadors of the breed really changed my whole outlook and made me realize it's the OWNER, STUPID!
On one of my walks I was talking to a kid about 10-12 years old. Said he had a cane corso, then told me how aggresive he is, nobody can control him on a leash so they don't walk him. He's to hard to train, so he's outside most of the time in the yard. I tried to explain training and leadership, exercise ect. He wasn't interested only cared about breeding it with a pitbull so he would have the baddest dog around. Its a shame some people don't understand what joy there is in training and interacting on a positve level with your dog, not locking it up in the backyard (out of site out of mind)
