Terri Kikke Webboard User Reg: 02-26-2008 Posts: 2 Loc: Offline	Hi, This is my first thread on here, my lovely sheltie bitch had five puppies 27 Dec, they are all homed, she is still bleeding a little, she has now had two courses of antibiotics, my vet says if she doesn't stop she will need to be dressed. She has no other symptoms of being unwell, her pups were all quite large for that breed! I would love to have her mated again if poss, so any info would be very much apprec.

It tapers off as time goes by but I had a bitch that would still spot occasionally 12 weeks post whelping. Unless the bitch had an infection the antibiotics are absolutely unnecessary. Most general vets (not repro specialists) know next to nothing about breeding. Cindy cindyr@leerburg.com

Here we called a hysterectomy getting dressed, i've not had a second opinion as we are waiting until the tablets are done, but i did speak with a few breeders who said a homeopathic remedy called pulsatilla, which i am trying to source just in case. What i have read this morning was, that if this condition is left untreated, that one of two things will happen, 1, The dog will have Pyometra, or 2, The dog will become obese. Obviously my girl is the main object here and i will not take any chances with her, but lack of experience is no reason to obey a vet, who has obviously no personal experience of breeding, this is why i thought i'd ask advice from experienced breeders.
