Did anyone see this special that aired last night (Sunday) on National Geographic channel? Absolutely amazing stuff, not that any of it surprised me, I've known dogs were incredible. Well, one thing surprised me, the Dobe that puts all his toys out in patterns (straight lines, triangles, face up, face down, etc). That will take you aback.
It airs again tonight, Monday March 10th. The Nat Geo website says it airs at 5 PM, but doesn't mention which time zone. Check your guide.
Sandy: I did and I was very interested in the Dobe's play. I am still thinking about it. I could see he really enjoyed doing it, and had something in his mind. I was wondering if he was an adopted dog, I think someone may have mentioned that. Could he have been trained by previous owner? But even if he was trained, why would he continually do that when on his own.
Dogs are amazing! I think we do not give them enough credit.
I have only had one dog that didn't want to learn tricks, but I could ask her to do anything and she would do it. She was kinda a goofy little cocker mix. All my other dogs have been very willing to learn tricks or anything.
What are your thoughts on this Dobe?
God bless you
They did mention that the Dobe had been adopted, but they also mentioned something about his background being either one of neglect or abuse, I can't remember. The most touching pattern he made was of two stuffed animals, one with its arm over the other one, the day after his new owner did that with him. I was severely blown away. I actually cried at the tenderness of what he did.
The deductive reasoning by dogs in the other segments was sheer genius. Absolutely AMAZING!!!
He was adopted but the owner said she had him for six months before he started arranging his toys like that. Really makes you wish we could see what goes on in those heads.
