I have both one of my dogs and a dog I have adopted out who are afraid of the ceiling fan.
What can I do to help them?
The adopters of the second dog use their fan pretty much constantly over the summer and they live in a two room apartment. So it is important for them to get a handle on this now.
Anyhow, the dog I am mainly worried about is the one I have adopted out, Lucy. Lucy's owners are concerned because they have to have that fan on in the summer and she's terrified of it. And she's *not* a fearful dog. Only this one thing.
Rusty's previous owner did say he had issues with the fan and he's glanced at mine, though I haven't had it on yet, and I'd like to work with him too.
Hi Carol, so far we haven't really tried anything. The owners have been pretty much ignoring it or sometimes they will try and give her a treat (which she doesn't eat). I think once they (the owners) figured out what she was afraid of, they try and keep the fan off.
The dog is fine and happy if the fan is off. When it is on, she acts like she thinks it is going to attack her. Shakes, tucks her tail, hides, won't eat or enter the room.
With my dog, the previous owner told me about the fear, I have a fan but have not turned it on with the dog present.
