I lock pull my arm to my body, unlock, retract the leash. You can get one arm length pulls at a time with this method. It's not super quick but done rapidly multiple times it is somewhat reasonable control. I'm a big guy so I don't have control issues with a 100 pound dog under almost any circumstance. My dog could easily pull my wife just any where he wanted to if he was out of control. I also have a ecollar, 2 size prong collars, 3 retractables and multi length leashes. They all get used depending on the dog and environment I'm in at the time. I try to let common sense dictate what's appropriate. Lee Sternberg

Makes me feel like I have a better grip and that the leash can't get pulled out of my hand. May dislocate my shoulder or pull my hand off but that handle will stay around my hand
