We have trained Molly to wait until she's released before she can eat. For whatever the reason this has really taken with her. I mean REALLY taken. Once I fed her and forgot to release and at some point (I think about a 1/2 hr later) she started growling this weird low growl when I went to correct her I realized she had never been released and was trying to say 'hey I'm still here ya know..." Well I was rather surprised because I would have guessed she'd get tired of waiting and just eat it. Well I try to never forget to release her (obviously) but occasionally a few extra minutes will go by before I remember (15 mins tops). Well we took to covering her while she was eating because she would growl at Jack (our pom) if he came too close while she was eating and because she would throw a fit when she wasn't let out immediately following. Well tonight was a busy night, I fed her, covered her and went about my business. I finished dinner, cleaned up after dinner ran to the store and finished baking my bread. I go to her crate to let her out and realize that I never released her and she had been waiting ALL this time to eat. I of course feel like a first class jerk but am shocked that she left it for over 2 1/2 hours. Do your dogs do this too?
You mean she sat in her crate, with the food in the crate, and didn't eat it? "Wow" is right...LOL
My dog won't eat certain high-value RMBs without a verbal go-ahead from me. Not because he's so wonderfully trained...he's just a lunkhead
Yep that's what I meant - it was right in front of her the whoooolllee time. Poor thing - I felt soooo bad. Yet oddly proud that she knows that she's not allowed to eat until I tell her so. Is that wrong?

No, of course it's not wrong. You did a good job.
But I'm still chuckling imagining the thoughts going through her head waiting for you to release her. Guess it's a good thing dog's can't talk. You might have gotten an earful.
