How common is it to see bloody noses during bitework? One of our pups took the sleeve for the first time today and left the field with a bloody nose (internal). Anyone else see this and is it reoccuring?
thanks
tracey
I personally have never seen this, I would go to the Vet right away, if the pup is still clumsy enough to hit his nose on the sleeve or was hit, he is still to young to be on the sleeve in the first place.
Or your helper is no help, and needs to be retrained on catching a dog, epecially a puppy.
Talk to your vet.

Unfortunately I wasnt there to see what happened. Our decoy DEFINITELY knows how to catch a dog that is not a question. The pup is 13 months old and it was on a puppy sleeve. The only thing I know is it wasnt noticed at first. The first bite was hard with commitment and he held it all day, after that the next two bites were soft and he was taken off the field and then the bloody nose was seen. Someone on another board said they had seen it once and it was not reoccuring and it may be a broken blood vessel from the bite. I dont really know he is acting fine so unless it happens again Im not going to the vet as it doesnt seem to be anything serious. He is an american bulldog by the way.

My biggest fear right now is that if it was something that hurt him he will relate it to the sleeve. That would really suck. I guess we will find out tuesday.

Tracey,
Your right that would suck, but if he took the sleeve 2 times after the bleed, I would suspect he will be fine for the bite. Just keep an eye out as I'm sure you will. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
