Is Dr. Raiser going to be the Breed Warden? Will the SV2000 be able to gain status with the FCI?
This is the trouble that we are working through in the US with the United SchH Clubs of America & the GSDCA-WDA.
The trouble is people care about the status in FCI.
The FCI recognition, along with so much concern for which club, which organization, recognizes what is the root of the problem with working dog promotion. I could care less if SV 2000 gets FCI recognition. We have seen a slow erosion of working qualities in the GSD. If my GSD comes with SV 2000 pedigree I could care less. If the titles my dog has are not recorded on a FCI pedigree I could care less. If my dog is healthy, powerful, confident, and conforms to the highest of working abilities I am happy.
I recall that a few years back the KNPV folks were told that unless they only allowed FCI recognized dogs with pedigrees in their trials they could not have their titles on the few that had pedigrees. Like true working people they told the FCI they didn't care wht they wanted or if their titles were on the pedigree. This is the approach we here and abroad need to have. Working ability above all else.
Maybe Dr. Raiser will get this off the ground, maybe it will fizzle. I predict it will gain popularity among a few seasoned working dog advocates. If it goes really well the SV will be left with all the show dogs and the sv-2000 will have all tghe working dogs and for once and all finalize the split in the breed between those that can and those that look pretty.
