Thanks Sandy- yes, the roof is at a slight angle- down/away from the house. There are also hinges at the "down" side so I can lift/tilt the roof for cleaning and increased ventilation in the summer... insulation in the "walls" and roof... (have some for the floor but still haven't gotten around to installing it or the casters I had planned). I had a lot of fun. Impressed my bf and his electrician brother, lol. I reminded them we were introduced to power tools in architecture school
Only sad thing is that the dogs don't even use it To be honest I built it so they could get out of the rain if for some reason they're in the yard and it starts... They sleep in their crates in the bedroom at night, and I'm such a softy that when it got down to 32 degrees I decided it was too cold to leave them in the yard while I was at work, lol. Maybe they don't use it because of the smell?? or maybe it doesn't bother them to play in the rain
We got our lab a bed with cedar in in thinking it would help him smell good and keep down the fleas. He is obviously allergic to cedar because he lost most of his hair on his feet, legs and stomach. We took the cedar away and his hair came back. Live and learn.
Our dog's "lavatory" area was covered with wood chips, pine, cedar, etc. He got a rash. We covered the wood chips with pea gravel and the rash went away. He pees on pea gravel. Pee on pea gravel. I like that.
