Our departmental vet recommended Lepto for our work dogs ONLY because of the environment in which they work…. Filthy, flooded basements, swampy areas..etc. If it wasn’t for this one issue, he would not recommend it.
I wouldn't, because the lepto vaccine almost killed my dog.
I've read in numerous places that the reactions to the lepto vaccine are more frequent than the reactions to all of the other vaccines combined.
Within hours, my Springer's face swelled up like a Boxer. She drooled everywhere, her eyes weeped, and she was lethargic. Shaking, she went into an empty room in my house and hid -- I think she thought she was dying. We quickly gave her Benadryl and stayed up all night with her, and the swelling went down and within twenty-four hours she was fine. Scared the bejeezus out of all of us.
Titer your older dogs for distemper/parvo. If it shows they have the necessary antibodies, you're in the clear, and I wouldn't do it again.
