I have found a supplier for ground beef tripe and am wondering how you all feed it.
If fed daily, should I eliminate veggies and cut back on other muscle meat, or feed tripe in addition to the regular meals? I know some people feed it as a meal once a week, but my dog gets runny stools if she goes for a day with no bones.
My dog eats 2% of body weight, which is 22 oz of food per day split into 2 meals.
I would give a couple of scoops along with his regular meal to see how he takes to it in the beginning. Too much, too soon might cause an upset stomach.
I personally do not feed tripe often, just once or twice a week. And I treat it like a side dish, not a meal by itself. I add a couple of tablespoons along with her RMBs and MMs. I think if I offer her a meal of tripe, my pup will be shooting out all sorts of pudding from her rear end.
You could probably increase the amount if your dog is an adult. I recently just introduced tripe, and am going slow since she has a sensitive stomach.
Perhaps someone else might offer better input, and even some I can learn from. Goodness knows I am new at raw feeding, and am still absorbing new info daily.
Like Rei, I don't make a meal of it either. I've been using canned Tripe and I use it put his E,C,acidophyllis and fish oil in. I've never had a problem with giving too much though even when I have given a lot. He seems to digest it well.
No.I don't reduce anything but I don't weigh anything anymore either. I just go by how many pieces I cut a 5lb chicken into or how big a game hen he ate, etc....
